Semi-fictional documentation of the event bringing together a traditional Austrian pop-up wine tavern and a moth-watching set. Mothing is a nocturnal adventure dedicated to species of strange shapes and intricate patterns. Heuriger in eastern Austria is a temporal tavern where local winemakers serve their new wine under a special license in alternating months during the growing season. The wine was the main ingredient that connected the Heuriger to Mothing. “Liump!” Heuriger merged both activities by attracting humans and insects alike. Additionally, it was prepared as a filming set in order to transform this unusual meeting experience into a video work.
Filmed during the stay in AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Niederöstereich, Krems, 2023. The rough cut version of the video presented in Berlin, art project space “Top-lab”.
