Small Town Murder Songs
Solo exhibition
Atletika, Vilnius
2020Video excerpts
We arrived at dusk, turned on the infrared heater, and covered the entry door with a plastic film. There used to be a bakery here. The smell of burnt sugar and mold blends in the building. While slipping on a shiny, greasy surface, we lay the extension cords. There will be a concert hall here. The knot of the sticky wires extending to the second floor connects more projections up the stairs. Due to the persistent cold and lack of time, we slowly carry everything together. The corridor is eliminated with thin beams of light, full of dust, possibilities, and dreams.
This exhibition is a walk through the archive of looped video projections. The material was captured while following the backstage process of several ambitious contemporary art projects throughout several years. The "Small Town Murder Songs" is a slow journey through warehouses, elevators, and corridors, while forgetting the facade and re-focusing on the specific situations that usually dissolve without notice.
